Privacy and who sees what

Liftorra is social by default and private by choice. Every rule on this page is enforced by the database’s security rules, so the app cannot show something to someone the rules refuse. Nothing in Liftorra is visible to people who are not signed in.

Workouts

When you finish a workout you choose who sees it; the default comes from Me, then Settings. You can change it later on the finished workout.

  • Public: anyone signed in to Liftorra. Counts toward your group challenges.
  • Friends & groups: your friends, plus everyone in any group you belong to (Social, then Groups). This is the default for new accounts, and it counts toward your group challenges without making anything public.
  • Friends: only people you have accepted as friends, not your groups. Friendship is mutual: both of you agree. Friends workouts do not count toward group challenges, because group members who are not your friends cannot see them.
  • Only me: nobody else.

Friends see your Public, Friends & groups and Friends workouts in their feed; group members see your Public and Friends & groups ones; other people can see your Public ones on your profile if your profile allows it. When someone leaves a group (or is removed), your Friends & groups workouts stop reaching them through that group.

Your profile

Your profile card (handle, name, photo and bio) can be seen by anyone signed in, so people can find you by handle. The training behind it (stats, records and workouts) follows the visibility you pick in Me, then Profile.

Friends

Search by handle and send a request. Nothing is shared as “friends” until the other person accepts. Either of you can remove the friendship at any time, and your Friends workouts stop being visible to them (Friends & groups ones too, unless you still share a group).

Activity

Activity sits at the top of Social. It tells you when someone gives kudos to or comments on one of your workouts, sends or accepts a friend request, or joins a group with your invite. A dot and a count show what is new; opening the list marks it as seen, and each line opens the workout, the person or the group. Only you see your Activity. It shows names and the first words of a comment, never your numbers or check-ins. If someone takes back their kudos or deletes their comment, it leaves your Activity too.

Notifications

Notifications are off until you turn them on (in Activity, or Me, then Settings, then Notifications). They tell you what Activity tells you: kudos, comments, high-fives, accepted requests, joins with your invite, group recaps and challenge moments. You choose which kinds, mute a friend, set quiet hours (22:00 to 08:00 at first) and a daily limit (10 at first). A notification never contains your numbers or check-ins. Turning them off, or signing out, on a device stops that device’s notifications (your other devices keep theirs); Turn off on all devices stops them everywhere; deleting your account removes every device.

On iPhone and iPad, notifications work in the installed app (add Liftorra to your Home Screen first).

Training now

When you start a workout, your friends and the members of your groups see it at the top of their feed: your name, the workout’s name and how long you have been going. Never your sets, weights or check-ins. They can send you a high-five, which you feel in the logger, and which stays as kudos on the finished workout.

  • A Public workout is shown only to friends and groups while you train. Strangers never see that you are training right now.
  • An Only me workout is never shown.
  • Turn it off in Me, then Settings, then Privacy: “Show friends when I’m training”. Turning it off hides a workout you are in the middle of too. The finish sheet also has a Turn off link.
  • A workout left open drops out of the list after 3 hours and is cleared after 12.

Groups

Group members see the group, its members and each member’s challenge score, and the workouts you share as Friends & groups or Public. Challenge scores are worked out on the server from those two levels only, so a group never sees a number built from workouts it cannot open. Your check-in numbers never reach a group.

Delete your account

In Me, then Settings, choose Delete account and type DELETE. For your safety this needs a recent sign-in. Deleting removes your profile and handle, every workout, check-in, program, record and setting, your friendships, your group memberships and challenge scores, your feed items and the reactions and comments you left, and every program you shared (the links stop working). A group you own passes to another member, or is deleted if you were the last one. This cannot be undone.
